Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been used in the human health care for quite some time, and is now making inroads in the animal health sector.
The health benefits of hyperbaic oxygen – which quite literally means oxygen delivered under pressure – are well proven.
The treatment requires a chamber that the pet can sit or lie in, that can is then be pressurised up two two atmospheres with seventy percent oxygenated air.
Each session is usually an hour long and the pets tolerate this remarkably well, often falling asleep!
Conditions that we treat with hyperbaric oxygen include
- Intervertebral Disc Disease
- Post surgical wound healing, specifically those with inflammation or severe swelling
- Bite wounds or other crushing injuries
- Skin infections and skin grafts
- Snake bites
- Head trauma
- Fracture healing
