Professor Kirberger works a consultant at Valley Farm Animal Hospital. Assisting with advanced diagnostic imaging and reporting on patient radiographs and CT scans.
Professor Kirberger is currently emeritus professor of Diagnostic Imaging in the Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Pretoria. He obtained his BVSc degree in 1971 and then spent 16 years in private practice, mainly in Mpumalanga. Prof Kirberger later returned to the University of Pretoria where he obtained his specialist radiology degree in 1991. In 1995 Prof Kirberger became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging and is currently a registered specialist radiologist with the South African Veterinary Council, and European Board of Veterinary Specialization. Prof Kirberger has authored or co-authored 110 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, is a co-author of the Handbook of Small Animal Radiology and Ultrasound: Techniques and Differential Diagnoses (Elsevier 2010), and is the Senior Editor of the 2016 BSAVA Manual of Canine and Feline Musculoskeletal Imaging.
